Weastec Associates Serve Up Smiles at Kamp Dovetail

In a week of community spirit and teamwork, a group of Weastec Associates generously volunteered their time amongst two mornings to serve breakfast to campers at Kamp Dovetail, bringing smiles and energy to hundreds of campers and volunteers.

What is Kamp Dovetail?

Kamp Dovetail is a week‑long, fully volunteer‑run summer camp nestled at Rocky Fork Lake State Park in Highland County. Sponsored by Supplemental Assistance to the Handicapped (S.A.T.H.), the camp supports children, teenagers, and young adults with disabilities from Highland and neighboring counties. Embracing a mission that inspires “Kids And Motivated People,” the camp pairs each camper with a one‑to‑one volunteer buddy, ensuring attentive care and tailored support.

Activities span fishing, horseback riding, arts and crafts, and more — designed to foster confidence, inclusion, and unforgettable memories. In recent years, the camp has welcomed approximately 700 attendees each day, highlighting the community’s strong commitment.

Weastec’s Impact

Thirteen Weastec employees—Kim Henderson, Carrie Case, Tisha Captain, Shirley Chaney, Karol Leach, Farrah Stanley, Gunnar Patton, Tate Erkenbrecher, Renae Harris, Julie Whitley, Angie Parrish, Tammy Moore, and Jennifer Ianson—stepped forward to help at breakfast service. Arriving early, they set up food stations, served balanced meals, and shared genuine conversation with campers and fellow volunteers.

Why It Matters

For campers with disabilities, breakfast isn’t only about nutrition—it’s a supportive environment to start the day positively. Volunteer efforts like these ensure campers feel seen, valued, and part of something special. The one‑on‑one pairing also allows volunteers to connect meaningfully, establishing trust and camaraderie.

This initiative fits within Weastec’s broader “Community Service” philosophy: encouraging associates to actively engage with nearby charitable organizations. Whether serving at the local Ronald McDonald House, donating supplies, or helping at Kamp Dovetail, Weastec employees continue making tangible differences. Weastec associates are already looking forward to volunteering again next year!
