Recycling
At Weastec, we recognize our actions today shape the world of tomorrow. As part of our commitment to the environment, Weastec has implemented a comprehensive recycling program. 100% of production-related waste (cardboard, plastic, foam sheets, etc.) at our Hillsboro plant is either recycled or repurposed for other applications. Outside of the production area, receptacles are located throughout all three facilities to collect plastic bottles, aluminum cans and paper waste for recycling. In 2020, Weastec also installed Water Bottle Refill Stations to help cut down on the one-time use of plastic water bottles. Since being installed, Weastec has prevented over 30,000 plastic bottles from going to landfills. Through these initiatives, we divert substantial amounts of waste from landfills, embodying our commitment to environmental stewardship.
In addition to recycling, Weastec has made a commitment to implement a 95% paperless workspace by 2027. The Paper Reduction Team was launched in 2023 and has been vigorously working with Department Heads and Team Leaders on ways to enhance their everyday functions into paperless activities. ‘Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle’ is a core value of Weastec’s environmental management system.
Through open communication, our associates are encouraged to notify Weastec management if they notice any potential environmental hazards or opportunities to improve Weastec’s environmental practices.
Weastec is constantly looking for ways to improve their recycling efforts. For any improvement suggestions or ideas, please contact the Business Management Group.
